Cam Newton’s era looks to be over for the New England Patriots.  The Patriots are cutting Cam Newton today before the 4 PM NFL roster deadline.  This makes way for rookie quarterback Mac Jones to become the week one starter.

Cam Newton, who was starting his second year in New England, did not have a stellar pre-season game against the New York Giants.  Newton was 2 of 5  passing for 10 yards with an interception against the Giants’ second and third-string defense.  Overall, Newton was 14 of 21 for 142 yards with one touchdown and one interception.  Jones had the better pre-season going 36 of 52 for 389 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions.
