The New Orleans Saints have officially put WR Michael Thomas on the shelf for the remainder of the year. Thomas, who started the season on IR had a designation to return by week seven after undergoing surgery to repair ligaments in his left ankle. The receiver put out a statement via Instagram Wednesday morning after a setback in his recovery.
While the Saints are currently sitting at 5-2 on the season, they desperately needed the type of playmaking that Thomas brings. They’ll have to figure a way to improve on their 180.9 passing yards per game (31st) without Thomas and starting QB Jameis Winston for the remainder of the year.
