Thursday Night Football 10.4.21

New York Jets @ Indianapolis Colts

Odds: Indianapolis-10.5, over/under 46

Weather: Dome conditions

Fresh off a 34-31 upset of the Cincinnati Bengals, the 2-5 New York Jets head to Indianapolis to take on the 3-5 Colts, who are coming off a heartbreaking 34-31 overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans.

New York quarterback Mike White shocked football fans across the world last week, throwing for 405 yards and three touchdowns in his first NFL start. Rookie running back Michael Carter had a breakout performance as well rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown. He added another nine receptions for 95 yards. Without top receiver Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder stepped up, hauling in 8 of 9 targets for 84 yards. Davis is doubtful with a hip injury so look for Elijah Moore, Keelan Cole and Denzel Mims to pick up the slack.

Indianapolis quarterback Carson Wentz had a rough game throwing for 231 yards and three touchdowns, but he threw two key interceptions late in the game. One was returned for a touchdown and the other came in overtime. He’s averaging 240.8 yards passing per game with 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

Michael Pittman Jr. had a big game last week hauling in 10 of 15 targets for 86 yards and two touchdowns. He leads the team with 45 receptions for 594 yards and four touchdowns. Zach Pascal has been the second most productive wide receiver with 26 receptions for 261 yards and three touchdowns. Longtime Indianapolis wide receiver T.Y Hilton is out with a concussion, but he hasn’t been much of a factor this season.

Jonathan Taylor leads the rushing attack with 649 yards and six touchdowns. He’s added another 265 yards through the air on 21 receptions. Backup running back Nyheim Hines isn’t much of a factor rushing, but he contributes in the passing attack with 20 receptions for 253 yards.

Fantasy impact

With star quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers and Kyler Murray likely to miss action this week, Mike White could be a solid streaming option although I wouldn’t bank on another 400 yard passing performance.
