The 6-2 Baltimore Ravens head to South Beach to take on the 2-7 Miami Dolphins. Baltimore is coming off a 34-31 overtime victory over the Minnesota Vikings, while Miami defeated the Houston Texans 17-9.
Lamar Jackson is putting up another MVP caliber season averaging 351.1 passing yards per game with 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions, while adding another 75 yards per game rushing with two touchdowns. Jackson’s two main targets in the passing game have been wide receiver Marquise Brown with 69 targets and tight end Marc Andrews with 61. Brown has hauled in 46 passes for 682 yards and six touchdowns, while Andrews has hauled in 42 passes for 560 yards and three touchdowns. Sammy Watkins is next on the team with 292 yards receiving. Watkins is questionable with a thigh injury, but is expected to play.
Jackson has rushed for the bulk of the yards with 600 total on the season. Latavius Murray is second with 212 yards rushing, but is doubtful to play with an ankle injury. Devonta Freeman has filled in, rushing for 79 yards on 13 carries last week while Le’Veon Bell added another 48 yards on 11 carries.
Second year quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is expected to start after missing last week with an injured finger. Tagovailoa is averaging 220.4 yards passing per game with 7 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has established a good rapport with college teammate and rookie wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Waddle has hauled in 56 passes for 496 yards and three touchdowns. Tight end Mike Gesicki leads the team in receiving with 529 yards with two touchdowns. With DeVante Parker injured, the next most reliable receivers have been tight end Durham Smythe and wide receiver Mack Hollins.
Myles Gaskin leads the rushing attack with 313 yards on 86 carries and one touchdown. He’s also hauled in 37 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Backup running backs Malcolm Brown and Salvon Ahmed don’t contribute much on the ground with both barely rushing for 100 yards each.
